Simply pair a PetScanner with our free app on your smartphone to get scanning. Upon scanning a pet, the app will display the microchip number as well as other information depending on these 3 possible scenarios:
- If a pet is registered with PetScanner, it will display the keeper’s name, email and contact number so they can be contacted instantly.
- If the pet is registered with any other database(s), it will display the database(s) name(s) and contact number(s) to which the pet is registered to. We check all 13 UK government approved databases and over 40 worldwide databases!
- If the pet is not registered with any of the databases we search on, the app will display the chip number only.

2. Download Free App
Download the PetScanner app from the Google Play or App store and create a free account.
3. Get Scanning
Connect the PetScanner to your phone and click the green scan icon in the top left corner in the app. You will hear short beeps when you are close to a microchip and a longer beep when it has been detected!
4. Enjoy the Features

View Scan History
We believe it’s useful to keep track of which microchips you have scanned with a PetScanner, that’s why you can view all previous scans in our app, under the ‘my scans’ section.
If a previously scanned pet was registered with PetScanner, you can view the chip number, where your scan was made and the contact details (name, phone number & email) of the pet owner. If a previously scanned pet was not registered with PetScanner, you can view the chip number and which database they were registered to.
